Tips & Tricks
How to set up exciting and creative training sessions?
With this project, we want to share our organisers' best practice examples and ideas. Some ideas can be found here, but there is more on our e-learning platform IBU Learning Suite.
Start here
Incorporate fun, age-appropriate activities that combine shooting accuracy with physical challenges; recommended are skiing, roller skiing, rollerblading, running and biking.

Use game-like formats, such as team competitions or timed challenges to keep the sessions dynamic and engaging. Incorporate educational elements to teach a proper shooting technique and safety.
Voila!
Creating a fun and variable environment can motivate young athletes while developing their biathlon skills.
How to build a safe shooting range?
As a B4A organiser, underline the importance of safety during each shooting session, especially while working with children, youths, and juniors. It doesn’t matter if it is a laser/optical, air or small-bore rifle. All biathletes must acknowledge the need for the highest level of safety during all training sessions and events.
Start here
Try to set a range with a wall behind the targets or create a background – thus, the children and others don't point with their rifle towards people or objects. Mark the shooting zone from the left and right sides so that no one can cross the line

Set the safety rules and teach them to kids and youths before the shooting starts! Ensure proper behaviour during every activity. Print the shooting range rules and place them prominently in your club or school.
Voila!
Organise safe training sessions and competitions, in line with biathlon shooting rules. Have well-prepared kids and youths for the next step in shooting training!
